I'm going to be careful not to give away too much about me here because half of the fun is in discovering the mystery, isn't it? Creativity is what drives me. Many of my life endeavors have been in search of new ways to create expressions of beauty in music, film, design, and writing.
I’m 42, and I began leading worship in my Junior High group at 14. It was a fluke moment. The Youth Pastor knew I had a guitar and asked if I’d be up to leading a couple songs the following week. I spent all week learning 3 songs that all had the same 4 chords in them. The rest might be considered history, but my journey as a worship leader is only beginning. Having had the opportunity to learn from incredible leaders over the years and sit and talk with worshipers like Chris Tomlin and Darrell Evans, I humbly realize that there is so much more to worship than 4 chords and a decent voice.
My passion is the local church and the people within. Growing up, worship leaders around me and sending them out. Allowing them to stand on my shoulders as they learn and flourish. I love to write songs for the local church as well, and many of the songs I lead have come from those “secret place” moments with family and friends.
Worship is a part of who I am, and I could no more separate it from me than I could my own arm. I look to the Holy Spirit to lead me and seek the example of Christ in all that I say and do within the ministries I’m a part of.
Awnna, my wife, is my "partner-in-crime". We met at a college group I was leading for at that time. We were married 2 years later, and that was nearly 19 years ago. Together we are all about laughter, love, great movies, and exploring our faith and our surroundings together.
We got the surprise of our lives 8 years ago when we discovered we were having twin girls. Jovi and Cora are two of the most rambunctious and cute toddlers I've ever seen. I'm partial, I know, but I mean, common! Look at them!
Awnna and I hail from Visalia, Ca originally. Living and working in the Visalia area, we spent countless weekend exploring the routes, beaches, and good eats of the central coast.
In my spare time, I love making short films and telling stories through the lens of a camera. I do a bit of writing (on my blog, as well as novels and screenplays). I'm a film buff, and my wife and I love talking about the latest film and TV shows. Awnna and I love our rare date nights and often times find our selves sharing them with great friends over great food.
I'll play video games when I've got a free minute, which doesn't happen too often being the father of twin girls. I love spending time with my family. We're an adventuresome family, always looking for something new to expeience together and create lasting memories.
We're family people and find solace in creating great friendships that allow us to explore and strengthen our faith and our diaphragm through laughter. For us, it's about the journey, and life is just that, a beautiful journey. The switchbacks and divots teach us how to navigate, and it's with the people that we love that the trails become infinitely more beautiful.
